For my entire life I have had two passions. The first is dogs and the second is history. I have spent my whole life surrounded by dogs, my own and other peoples. At a very young age I knew I wanted to work with animals, especially dogs. This led to my becoming a pet groomer and then working for Veterinarians as a tech and receptionist.
Along the way I found time to indulge my second passion by earning a master’s degree in history.
I love to discover the ways that pets have interacted with their humans throughout history and how that has benefited both species.
Where the Past Meets the Present
The Well-Groomed Historian is where those two worlds meet.
It’s a place for the stories from the past that tell of the amazing pets that helped us move through our history, and their own history as well.
It’s also a place that you can come to find some practical advice for grooming your companion at home or some common-sense first aid help, “When to call your Vet and hen to handle it yourself”.
Because I believe every pet has a story worth telling and a life worth living.
A Life Among Animals
Dogs and cats have been my teachers, my companions, my best friends, my confidants, and my comedic entertainment. They have gotten me through hard times in my life and showed me what was really important.
This blog is my way of giving something back- a collection of stories, reflections, and discoveries that celebrate both the past and the paws that walk beside us today.
